New STC for SHL™ lamps on Boeing 737, 747, 767 and 777 main landing lights
Hollingsead a US engineering company has received an FAA and JCAB (Japanese Civil Aviation Bureau) STC approval for installation of the ECE SHL™ lamps on Boeing 737, 747, 767 and 777 main landing lights.
ANA, the launch customer, has already installed the products on its Boeing fleet, primarily as a mean to get rid of the problem of broken glass falling from the aircraft. Other airlines using Boeing aircraft are already investigating the opportunity to significantly reduce their operating and maintenance costs by using SHL™ lamps instead of standard sealed beam lamps.
The 3 SHL™ lamps developed by ECE (PAR 36, 46 and 64) are already used by major airlines on the Airbus A320 family, as more than 15 major airlines have already adopted the SHL™ lights
With the SHL™ technology ECE offers its customers the ability to significantly decrease their operating and maintenance costs.
Compared to standard sealed beam SHL™ products provide several advantages:
- increased operating life time
- repairable lamps: bulb and lens are replaceable (LRU)
- lower power consumption
- reduced risk of broken lens (part detached from Aircraft)
