ECE production operations are distributed among 6 Autonomous Production Units:
- Contactors (Niort)
- Electrical Primary Distribution (Niort)
- Equipment and electronic (Niort)
- Components (Besançon)
- Lighting and wipers (Rungis)
- Repair (Niort and Rungis): FAR/JAR 145
The complete production process is customer oriented. To improve customer satisfaction, reduce lead time and inventories, ECE is using a Lean Manufacturing Strategy and Kaizen tools.
Lean Manufacturing Strategy
Niort plant
The goal of Lean operations is to identify and eliminate non-value added work in the most efficient and economical manner.
ECE uses the following lean manufacturing tools and methods:
- Production process mapping
- Lay out (cellular manufacturing / Flow shop)
- Pull shop-floor system associated with a computerized Kanban
Manufacturing best practices (Kaizen tools):
- Kanban
- SMED: Single Minute Exchange of Dies
- 5S: Effective work place organization, standardized work procedure
- Root Cause: Analysis approach and corrective actions (method 8D)
- 3P: Production Preparation Process
- VSM: Value Stream Mapping
- Mistake proofing (paka yoke)
